What FORTIFIED Gold actually means

FORTIFIED is a nationally recognized construction standard from the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety. There are three levels — Roof, Silver and Gold — and Gold is the highest. At Gold, the load path is continuous: the roof deck, the connections, and the structure below are all engineered and verified to work as one system in a hurricane.

• Sealed roof deck. Every seam is taped or sealed so that even if shingles blow off, water does not get into the house. This single detail prevents the majority of hurricane interior damage.
• Enhanced fastening. Ring-shank nails on a tightened pattern, plus reinforced edge metal and starter strips rated for high wind.
• Impact and edge protection engineered well beyond standard residential code.
• Third-party inspection. An independent FORTIFIED evaluator — not us — inspects during construction and issues the certificate.
• Documentation you can use. You receive the designation paperwork to hand directly to your insurance carrier for the discount.

High-wind rated architectural shingles over a sealed deck. This is the most cost-effective path to FORTIFIED certification and the right answer for most homes in St. Tammany Parish and the Northshore.

Standing-seam metal

Concealed-fastener standing-seam panels with a 40 to 70-year service life and excellent wind performance. Popular on Acadian and coastal homes, and on low-maintenance commercial buildings.

Re-roofs, storm repair and new construction

We handle full tear-off and replacement, storm and hail damage repair, insurance claim documentation, and roofing on new construction.
